Castlevania’ Netflix show is based on Dracula's Curse originally released in 1989 for the NES, and is the 7th game in the Castlevania Series. 

The Game is set in 1476 in “Wallachia” an antiquated term for modern Southern Romania.  

The game is the first appearance of Alucard (real name Adrian Ferenheight Tepes) a dhampir and child of Dracula and Lisa Tepes

In Dracula's Curse Alucard is an optional companion character to the main protagonist Trevor Belmont, but is the lead protagonist in Symphony of the Night Castlevania’s 14th game releasing in 1997 for the original Playstation 

Symphony of the Night (alternate title Nocturne in the Moonlight) is the direct sequel to Rondo of Blood and takes place in 1797

Alucard’s “Heirloom Sword” is passed down by his mothers family and is usually the sword he is depicted with in official artwork along side the Alucards shield
