Cast Iron Candelabra

This casting project was an attempt to replicate antiquated artisan techniques while infusing it with new technology. The candelabra was sculpted from a combination of wax, 3d printed parts, and a wood-turned candle stick that was then molded in plaster and cast in wax. The pieces were all sprued and cast in a ceramic shell. the wax was then burned out using the lost-wax casting technique. The molds were filled with molten iron, chipped out, and the sprues, vents, and cups were cut off via angle grinder. Finally, the pieces were cleaned up and stick welded together and given an oil black finish.
